Important Note Regarding Emails from TechAnchor

It has come to our attention that on rare occasions some people have received emails containing viruses or spam which claim to have been sent by someone with an @techanchor.com email address.

Please understand that, despite appearances, no one at TechAnchor has forwarded any viruses or spam to you. Not only does every computer in use by TechAnchor have up-to-date antivirus protection, we also use comprehensive firewalls which would prevent outgoing viruses from making it outside of our network. And we do not support or send spam in any form.

So why are you seeing emails claiming to be from TechAnchor?

Many viruses read a victim's address book to get new email addresses to attack. When creating an email to send to a target from that address book, many current viruses also spoof the "From" address by grabbing a random second email address from the victim's address book and using that as the "From" address. Often this is done so that the actual victim cannot be notified by friends that he or she is sending out viruses unknowingly and so that a third party receives the blame for sending the emails.

If you receive a virus email claiming to be from someone at TechAnchor, it is very likely that the original victim of the virus had both your email address and one of our TechAnchor email addresses in his or her address book.

Spammers similarly spoof the "From" email address quite frequently. In fact, we at TechAnchor often receive junk mail claiming to be from various @techanchor.com email addresses that we know do not even exist.

So what can we do about it?

We wish we could simply say that we will find the computer on our network which has sent a virus or spam email, but the fact is that the problems are caused by third parties that we cannot affect.

If you are interested in filtering spam and viruses more effectively, you can try using a different email client. TechAnchor recommends the free and very high quality Thunderbird.
